Hello, I am Kathy Johnson and I love to teach, especially reading. I am currently the Reading
Interventionist here at Del Rio. This is only my second year here, but I have been teaching for 23 years. Before moving back to Arizona, I taught in Texas for eleven years, but I was born and raised in Arizona and it is my home. Teaching here in Chino Valley for the past twelve years has been a joy. Teaching positions I have held include 2nd and 3rd grade classroom teacher, English Language Learners, Resource, and Title 1 Reading.
My husband, Sam and I live here in Chino. We raised our four sons in Flagstaff and Texas. They are all married and we have twelve wonderful grandchildren. We love to hike, camp, garden, and take our canoe “Suzy” out on the surrounding lakes. We are actively involved in our church. I hope to have more time for these endeavors as I am retiring this year. I have enjoyed working with your wonderful children. Thank you for sharing them with me!
My name is Carla Dillard and it seems I have been involved with the Chino Valley Schools for a large part of my life. I actually went to school where the high school and district office are now, when it was a K-9 school. There were 23 students who graduated with my eighth grade class. We have grown a little since then.
I started volunteering when my son started Kindergarten, and was soon asked to join the wonderful staff at Del Rio. When the opportunity came for me to become librarian at the new Heritage Middle School, I was excited to start a new chapter. I then went to Territorial for a few years and was lucky enough to take my granddaughter with me as she began her journey in education. Finally, I have come full circle back to Del Rio.
I enjoy many hobbies, but teaching has truly been a passion for me. When a student gets that “look” that he or she really understands the process, I feel that what we are doing here is truly worthwhile. Go Cougars!
